Thornbury Rotary’s Duck Races helped raise the money to buy a new defibrillator for Thornbury
Working with the Great Western Air Ambulance charity Thornbury Rotary raised the funds to install a new defibrillator in Oakleaze Road.
We’d like to thank everyone who supported this initiative
Thornbury Rotary Club, in conjunction with Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, are raising funds to provide a Defibrillator machine for Thornbury. Every year in the UK 30,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. For every minute that passes, a person’s chance of survival goes down by 10%.
So, if someone suffers a cardiac arrest nearby, this lifesaving automated external defibrillator (AED) could save their life. Help us save lives
Thornbury Rotary Club held two big fundraisers in September to raise funds to purchase a Defibrillator to be sited at the shops in Oakleaze Road, Thornbury.
The first was at the Alveston Community Event on Saturday 2nd September with a First Prize a Family Day out at Old Down Country Park

The second on Saturday 9th September saw the Duck Race at the Love Thornbury Family Fun Day in Castle Street where the prizes on offer were; First Prize £50 M&S Voucher, 2nd Prize Meal for two at The Swan Thornbury, 3rd Prize Personalised Tour of GWAAC Helicopter Centre
Thornbury Rotary is working with the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) to raise funds for this important initiative. They have partnered with The Heartbeat Trust UK to launch a new lifesaving automated external defibrillator (AED) package.
In addition to the installation of the AED system the package includes Training and Support with ongoing maintenance
